| Development Lead: QA Support Research & Dev Development Lead: QA Support Research & Development Our client’s ongoing production of high volume, high quality custom software systems requires the creation of a Quality Assurance (QA) and Software Support (SS) function within the Development team. We therefore require a hands-on, experienced and commercially-minded lead software developer with an unrelenting focus on detail and quality who can set about creating and managing the QA and SS area of the business. Our expectation is that the successful candidate will help to markedly reduce the number of post-implementation software bugs, leaving plenty of time for the additional function of Research & Development (R&D). This is a key role for the business that requires an entrepreneurial individual who is able to direct as well as do the work, and who will gain much satisfaction from solving a wide variety of challenging problems and playing a pivotal role within a small and focussed development management team. Duties and Responsibilities • Design and implement appropriate QA methodologies for the testing of in-house custom software and systems before they are put into production • Measure and monitor in-house production software systems to ensure optimal performance 24/7/365 • Assist developers with stress- and load-testing of systems • Create and manage the Software Support function, with the specific aim of ensuring prompt resolution of bugs found in custom production systems • Create and manage the R&D function, whereby QA and SS developers will be given the freedom to explore any and all technologies and systems that may be of future technical and commercial value to the business • Line management responsibility for a team of 4-6 testers and support / R&D developers • Work closely with other Lead Developers to optimize overall development methodologies and systems architecture and design. Job and Personal Competencies • Relevant university degree or similar, preferably post graduate • Strong skills in a wide variety of technologies, including 5-10+ years’ high level experience with systems architecture, OO, databases, C#, .NET 2.0 / 3.5, UML and all related technologies / platforms, SQL in all major forms (experience with major open source platforms is a plus but not a requirement). Experience with open source technologies is a bonus but not required. • 3+ years’ experience managing software developers and the delivery of large software projects • Systematic, precise, logical, accurate, thorough, able to work under stress • Assertive, confident, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong planning, organisational and leadership skills To apply, please submit your CV in word format with your skills matrix | |
