Project Manager - Wind Energy Development My client is a London-based Wind development platform with focus in Emerging markets. Currently concentrated in developments in Brazil and South Africa, they are sourcing and developing Wind opportunities-from Greenfield stage to acquisition of licenses through local partnerships- in several Latin America countries and South Africa Technical Business Developer- South Africa M/F Location: South Africa They are seeking a commercially-savvy, driven person with energy project development experience, as well as analytical and communication skills who is motivated by the prospect of working with an entrepreneurial company in a rapidly-growing, venture capital-backed renewable energy company. The project manager will be responsible for all aspects of project development for multiple wind power projects. He will work closely will the London team and manage various aspects of project development, such as land identification, wind resource assessment, permitting, environmental and interconnection. This position will also require the understanding of the local Wind Energy Regime, establishing and fostering new relationships with Local Partners, assessing local, regional and national conditions and procedures; managing utility relationships (e.g, with Eskom) and negotiating power purchase agreements. It is also required that the Project manager serves as representative with consultants, advisors, vendors, regulators, community representatives and other internal and external stakeholders. The Project Manager is expected to have experience in project development and/or similar transactional fields. Past exposure to Renewable Energy and the power sector is preferable, as well as specific transmission and interconnection exposure. Job Responsibilities: • Secure control over land required to develop Wind sites • Obtain the right for the projects to connect to the electrical grid • Manage and supervise Environmental Permitting process • Manage and supervise Wind measurement process, from procurement of suppliers throughout Energy output certification • Obtain all necessary permits for construction and operation of the projects • Develop relationships with utilities and manage offtaker discussions • Assess all local, regional and national regulatory processes and pursue necessary approvals • Manage relationships and task orders with advisors, consultants and vendors • Serve as project representative to interested stakeholders in the Community • Manage project budget and timelines during project life cycle • Potentially establish JV partnerships with Local Partners and discussions with local Banks Qualifications: • Be qualified to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline. • Experience in Wind Energy assessment is a plus • Possess excellent project management, communication and problem solving skills and experience. • Have a good knowledge of the Energy business. • Previous experience of managing and working with 3rd parties. • Be able to communicate effectively including via remote link. • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and organizational skills • Willingness to travel frequently, with work base in South Africa. • Confort with budgets, basic finance and contract negotiation • Have well developed IT skills.
